Boyhood memories!

My dream car!

This is a recent extract from our local paper. I couldn't possibly comment of course.

These are easy to make, they are just miniature hot air balloons powered by candles. You will need:

Birthday cake candles.

Thin pedal bin liners.

Thin Balsa wood strips from a model shop.

Sellotape.

CAUTION!! I LIVE IN A QUIET AREA AWAY FROM AIRPORTS AND CONTROLLED AIRSPACE. DO NOT LAUNCH THESE WHERE THEY MAY PRESENT A DANGER TO AIRCRAFT. DR-BELLEND DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEAD PEOPLE OR BUSTED AIRCRAFT.

Tape a couple of strips of thin Balsa wood together. You can get enough for about 10 balloons for £1.50.
Cut down some birthday candles to about 30 mm.
Warm up the ends and glue on with the melted wax.
Tape on the bin liner.
Light up.
Launch on a clear calm night.

These will travel up to around 2000 feet and look like a hovering fireball, so wait for the newspaper reports!
